DONOR: Rick Stoes SIZE: Five cubic feet SCOPE & CONTENT: Photographs and papers include: BIOGRAPHY: Paul Stoes was a violin virtuoso at 17 years old when he was on faculty at Bush Conservatory as well as in the Chicago Symphony. He later worked for the National Concert Artist Corporation (NCAC) and managed such world renowned artists as the Don Cossack Choir, Igor Stravinsky, as well as discovering the late Isaac Stern. Stoes was notable in conducting and managing concerts for violin virtuoso Fritz Kreisler. This collection also holds genealogical information on Paul Stoes' parents, Henry and Katherine Dougherty Stoes, who were prominent figures in the Las Cruces community.
