BIOGRAPHY:

A. F. (Frankie) Flint's father, grandfather, two uncles and three aunts came from West Virginia in 1907. The four men homesteaded 160 acres each, north of Bard, NM. Frankie was born in his maternal grandfather's home near Meade, Kentucky, but has always lived near Bard, NM.

Addie Lee was born in Hammon, Oklahoma. The family moved to a farm near West Plains, Missouri, then to a ranch south of San Jon, NM. She married Frankie in 1930 after one year of art study at Las Vegas, NM Teacher's College and teaching one year at Punkin Center, a one-room, one-teacher, eighth grade school.

Frankie's father bought him a 160 acre "default homestead" from the US government when he finished eighth grade at age twelve. He farmed and paid for the land by age nineteen and drove a school bus for two years to attend high school.

Frankie and Addie Lee expanded their farm/ranch to 2300 acres of farm and 600 head on a registered Angus ranch by 1951. The collection includes Addie Lee's papers which chronicle the activities of the boards and committees on which they served, US and world travel and family activities/achievements.
