BIOGRAPHY:

Nina "Bennie" Baker was born in Greenfield, MA on July 30, 1912. During World war II Bennie was in the Army Nurse Corps and served as the Chief Nurse of the 184th General Hospital in England. After the war Bennie served in Germany, The Pentagon, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Korea and as Chief Nurse of the 2nd Army at Headquarters on Governors Island, NY. She retired in 1963 at Fort Devens, MA as a Lt. Col. with 20 years of service.

Bennie moved to Albuquerque in 1983 as one of the first residents at La Vida Llena Retirement Community and she died on Oct. 11, 2008.
